The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is an extraordinary book. It takes place in the future where the government has changed. The Capitol rules the country of Panem, which is located in the ruins of North America. There are twelve districts that the Capitol controls and to keep them in line forces each district to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 to 18 to compete in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to death on live television. This story follows sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen. Katniss takes the place of Prim, her younger sister, when Prim's name is called for the Hunger Games. The other boy going from her district is Peeta Mellark, a boy who helped her family when they were about to starve. In the Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins gives such a good mix of adventure and romance that you will have to read the sequel, Catching Fire.
